A warning on the Balay AA TE 6010 washing machine does not always mean a serious breakdown. On these appliances, display codes usually point to three specific areas: water intake, drainage or the door lock. What a Balay AA TE 6010 error means

The commercial name or partial reference does not allow a single meaning to be assigned to the warning. Balay uses codes that can recur across different series, but the manual linked to the appliance E-Nr. is the definitive reference. This information is usually found inside the door frame or on the rear panel, next to the FD number.

Among the most common warnings, E17, F17 and E29 indicate difficulty filling the drum. The tap must be open, the inlet hose must not be bent and the filter at that connection must be clean. Domestic water pressure between 1 and 10 bar is commonly specified for this family of washing machines; below that range, the programme may stop.

Blocked drainage: E18, F18, F04 and E36

Codes E18 and F18 appear when the appliance cannot drain the water. Before touching any component, unplug the washing machine and wait for the water to cool. The circuit can then be emptied through the pump filter, placing a container under the cover and opening it slowly to prevent the water from rushing out.

The filter may hold coins, lint, hairpins or small buttons. Once clean, check that the drain hose is not bent or blocked and that its connection is no more than 1 metre high. F04 and E06 are also commonly associated with drainage. With E36, excess detergent, an unsuitable extension or a blocked pump may also be involved.

If the pump hums but the water does not leave, a blockage remains likely. However, if it stays completely silent, there are leaks, or a burnt smell appears, do not remove the casing: the problem could involve the pump, wiring or electronic control.

Door, motor and electronics: when to stop checking

An incomplete lock can activate E16 or equivalent door codes. A garment caught between the seal and glass, a misaligned hinge or detergent residue in the lock can prevent it from engaging. Removing the load, gently cleaning the area and closing the door until it catches are safe checks; never force the handle.

E02 and F43 point to a motor issue, while E61 is linked to the electronics. In these cases, switching the appliance off, disconnecting it for a few minutes and trying a short programme may rule out a temporary lock, but it will not repair a damaged part. If the warning remains, the drum stops full or metallic knocks are heard, a qualified technician should intervene.

A reset is not a substitute for inspection when there is water on the floor, a smell of overheated wiring or repeated electrical trips. When the warning disappears after correcting a hose, cleaning a filter or closing the door properly, the cause was probably a usage issue or a temporary blockage. If it returns, the repeated code provides a useful clue: at that point, continually restarting the washing machine only delays professional inspection and could worsen a leak or electrical fault.
