The Beko BA312C is a 12,000 BTU portable air conditioner designed to cool rooms without installing an outdoor unit. What the Beko BA312C offers in daily use

This model mainly operates in cooling mode, with three fan speeds, automatic temperature control and a dehumidifying function capable of removing approximately 1.2 liters of water per hour. It does not replace a dedicated dehumidifier, but it can make the air feel less heavy during hot and humid days.

Control is available through the white LED display panel or the LCD remote control. The 24-hour timer allows users to schedule start-up or shutdown, while sleep mode reduces operating intensity for greater nighttime comfort. The air outlet can be directed upward or downward, although it does not distribute air as widely as a fixed system.

The unit uses R290 refrigerant, an option with lower climate impact than gases historically used in air conditioning. It also has a washable high-efficiency filter, whose regular cleaning is essential for maintaining airflow and preventing dust from reducing performance.

Capacity, energy use and room size

The stated capacity is 11,680 BTU/h, a figure commonly rounded commercially to 12,000 BTU and equivalent to slightly more than 3,000 frigories per hour. Manufacturer and retail specifications place its recommended use in spaces of around 42 to 64 m³, approximately 16-23 m² depending on ceiling height, insulation and sun exposure.

Its cooling input is 1,314 W and its EER reaches 2.6. An A rating does not mean that absolute consumption is low: one hour at full power can approach 1.3 kWh, although actual use changes with the selected temperature, outdoor heat and the time the compressor remains active.

Measuring 76.5 centimeters high, 46.7 wide and 39.7 deep, it fits beside a window but needs free space to draw in and expel air. Some specifications list its weight at about 32.5 kg, while others give up to 36.2 kg when packaged. Its wheels help with movement, but carrying it between floors is still demanding.

Noise, installation and limitations worth knowing

The maximum stated sound level is 63 dB, while the minimum speed can fall to around 50 dB. At low power it may fade into a normal conversation, but the compressor becomes noticeable when working hard. In a bedroom, it is sensible to cool the room before going to bed and then use sleep mode.

As a monobloc unit, it needs neither a technician nor an outdoor unit, but it does require an exhaust hose connected to a window. Hot air must be expelled outdoors through the included kit; leaving it inside the room cancels much of the cooling effect. Sealing the window opening is also recommended to prevent heat from coming back in.

The BA312C stands out for its mobility, R290 refrigerant and straightforward controls, but it appears as a discontinued or unavailable model at several retailers checked. Before buying a unit that has been stored for a long time, it is therefore worth checking the warranty, hose, remote control and spare-parts availability. Its best setting is a medium-sized, well-sealed room; for large, very sunny or poorly insulated spaces, its portable capacity may not be enough.
