F1: the ignition lockout that causes the most confusion

F2 and exhaust: when the boiler is not breathing properly

The F2 warning is related to exhaust gas removal or to the air control needed for combustion. The boiler will not start if it cannot verify that the fumes are being expelled correctly, and rightly so. Safety depends on that controlled breathing, almost like a mechanical lung that does not tolerate blockages.

A blocked outlet, a worn fan, an altered pressure switch connection, or an excessively long flue can trigger this lockout. F3 and F03: water pressure, the most common household fault

F3 and F03 are, in many homes, the most recognizable codes. They appear when the heating circuit pressure falls outside safe values. In the technical references most often cited for Fagor, the lockout occurs below 0.6 bar or when the pressure exceeds the range accepted by the unit, which may be around 2.8 bar or slightly more depending on the pump situation.

The most common case is low pressure. It usually happens after bleeding radiators, due to small leaks, or because of a slow loss that goes unnoticed for weeks. The boiler then works with less water than needed, heat transfer suffers, and the protection kicks in. If the gauge shows around 1.2 to 1.5 bar when cold, most domestic installations return to normal operation.

High pressure also exists, although it is mentioned less often. It can appear after overfilling or when the expansion vessel does not absorb circuit variations properly. If the problem repeats after every adjustment, we are no longer talking about a simple water refill, but about a deeper cause that may include a leak, a safety valve, or a worn expansion vessel.

F4, F7, and overheating: the boiler protects itself

The F4 and F7 warnings point to the thermal area of the unit. In both cases, the boiler is stopping a situation that could damage the exchanger, the pump, or the hydraulics themselves. When the safety thermostat trips, or when the primary circuit outlet exceeds the expected temperature, the appliance enters protection mode and moves away from normal operation.

The cause is not always a broken component. Sometimes the problem is as ordinary as a system with air, radiators that have not been bled properly, or a pump that no longer pushes with the same force. Water then stops circulating at the correct speed, heat builds up, and the boiler correctly interprets that it must stop. It is a defensive reaction, not an electronic whim.

The moment when the warning occurs also matters. If it appears after several minutes of intense heating, the focus is usually on circulation. If it trips almost immediately, the suspicion shifts more toward the temperature sensor, the safety thermostat, or a prior configuration issue. F5, F6, F9, F10, F11, F13, and F23: when the problem is already technical

In these cases, repeated reset attempts can prolong the fault and do nothing to solve the underlying cause.

The boiler appreciates that limit, because its safety margin is not decorative: it is the line that separates a simple usage fault from a serious breakdown.

What the errors reveal when the installation is already asking for attention

A repeated code does not always point to a specific part; often it points to a tired installation.
