Error F10 in Indesit washing machine

How to eliminate the F10 error in an Indesit washing machine? Error: F10. Description: loss of liquid level sensor signal / problem in the pressure switch (water level). This code usually indicates a fault with the pressure switch, its air tube, or the water intake system. It can also appear on some washer-dryer models with the same water-level detection system.

Causes

  • Faulty pressure switch (pressostat) or internal failure.
  • Blocked, kinked or leaking air/pressure tube that connects the drum/watertank to the pressure switch.
  • Poor water supply (tap flow too low or too high).
  • Clogged inlet filters or obstructed Aquastop/inlet hose.
  • Faulty or de-energised solenoid valve (electrovalve) preventing correct water intake.
  • Damaged wiring, loose connectors or PCB/electronics faults.

Diagnosis and tests

1. Visual and basic checks

Before opening the machine, unplug it and turn off the water. Check the inlet hose for kinks, the Aquastop hose for obstructions, and the tap to ensure it supplies water. Clean the inlet filters (inside the hose connector and on the valve) if dirty.

2. Water pressure and flow

  • Measure or estimate water pressure. Recommended range: 2–4 bars. If pressure is under 2 bars the flow may be insufficient; if it is well above 4 bars the machine may register abnormal conditions or risk leaks.
  • Check that the tap provides steady flow and that any external stop valves are fully open.

3. Pressure switch and air tube test

Locate the pressure switch and its small hose (pressure tube). With the machine unplugged:

  • Inspect the tube for blockages, kinks or disconnections. Remove it and blow gently to confirm it is clear.
  • Reconnect and, if possible, blow into the tube while checking whether the switch changes state (continuity) with a multimeter.
  • If the switch does not react or shows no proper continuity change, the pressure switch is likely defective and should be replaced.

4. Solenoid valve and electrical checks

Check the inlet solenoid valve (electrovalve): ensure it receives mains voltage when the machine requests water (only if you are qualified to make live checks). Also inspect connectors and wiring for burn marks, corrosion or loose contacts. If the valve is not energised or is mechanically stuck, it may need replacement.

5. Electronic control

When mechanical and wiring checks are OK, a PCB fault or sensor interface problem may be the cause. These faults are harder to diagnose without specialist tools and experience.

Step-by-step solution

  1. Reset the machine by unplugging it for a few minutes and restarting a cycle to rule out transient errors.
  2. Ensure the water tap is fully open and the supply is within 2–4 bars.
  3. Remove and clean inlet filters; check and straighten the inlet hose and Aquastop.
  4. Inspect, clean or replace the pressure (air) tube; ensure it is correctly connected to the pressure switch.
  5. Test/replace the pressure switch if it fails the continuity or response test.
  6. Check the solenoid valve: verify power supply and replace if faulty.
  7. Inspect wiring and connectors; repair any damaged cables or contacts.
  8. If the problem persists after these checks, contact an authorised Indesit service technician.

Safety and when to call a technician

Working with water and mains electricity is dangerous. If you are not confident or lack proper tools, do not attempt live electrical tests. Contact Indesit technical support or a qualified appliance repair technician. A technician can perform accurate pressure-switch diagnostics, measure voltages safely, and replace parts correctly.

More tips

  • F10 commonly occurs when water does not enter the machine normally. The most common causes are low water pressure, clogged inlet filters, or obstructed hoses.
  • Keep spare inlet hoses and a replacement pressure tube available if you live in an area with frequent water quality issues.
  • If your appliance is a combined washer-dryer and the code appears during drying, it usually still refers to the water-level/pressure detection subsystem used during wash cycles.

Other Indesit error codes

For information on other error codes, consult your user manual or the Indesit support website. If you cannot resolve the F10 error after the checks above, professional diagnosis is recommended.
