Balay A10 washing machine error: causes and safe solution

The A:10 warning is usually linked to the hot water supply and can be checked without taking the washing machine apart.

Revisión de la entrada de agua ante el error A10 en una lavadora Balay

The A:10 warning on a Balay washing machine usually indicates an issue with the hot water intake: the tap is not fully open, the hose is bent or the appliance is not receiving enough pressure. On some models, it may also appear during the first wash when the hot water inlet is not connected, even though the machine is designed to operate with cold water only.

Before assuming that the electronic system has failed, check the water supply and installation. The inspection is straightforward, but it should be carried out with the washing machine stopped and without handling internal parts while the appliance is connected to power.

What the A:10 code means on a Balay washing machine

The A:10 message, which may appear as A10 on some displays, is linked to the hot water supply circuit. The machine detects that the expected flow or temperature is not arriving correctly. It does not always mean that a component has failed: a partly closed valve or low pressure can trigger the same warning.

It is also possible for the code to appear on models designed to use two inlets, one for cold water and one for hot water, when only one has been connected. In that case, the warning may occur only at the start of the programme and then disappear, especially when the manual confirms that cold-water operation is supported.

Checks that may clear the warning

With the washing machine switched off, make sure the hot water tap is fully open. Then inspect the hose from the tap to the back of the appliance: it should lie freely, without being crushed, twisted or sharply bent in a way that restricts the water flow.

Insufficient pressure is another possible cause. Open the tap and check whether the water flows normally; very weak pressure may be caused by the household plumbing, a faulty valve or a dirty inlet filter. If the manual explains how to remove it, clean the small mesh carefully without forcing or puncturing it.

When the washing machine uses cold water only

Some Balay washing machines are intentionally installed with a single cold-water connection. If the model supports this setup, A:10 may be an information warning during the first cycle rather than a fault that prevents washing. The display and exact behavior depend on the series and production year.

The manual for the specific model is essential because connections are not identical. The appliance reference is usually printed on a label inside the door frame or on the rear panel. Checking it prevents a hose from being connected to the wrong inlet or a normal operating condition from being mistaken for a fault.

When to stop carrying out checks

If the warning returns after checking the tap, hose, filter and pressure, there may be a problem with the solenoid valve, temperature sensor or electronic control. These parts require testing and disassembly, which are not safe without technical training.

If you notice a leak, burning smell, unusual noises or moisture around the rear of the machine, unplug the appliance and close the water tap. A reset may clear an isolated warning, but it cannot repair an ongoing cause; repeatedly starting cycles could make the fault worse. In that situation, professional diagnosis is the safest way to restore the washing machine.
