F59 error on a Balay washing machine: meaning and next steps
The F59 code can indicate an internal fault: find out what to check before requesting a repair.

The F59 code on a Balay washing machine usually points to an issue with an internal sensor linked to drum movement control. On some models, it is part of the three-dimensional detection system, which monitors the position and behavior of the load during washing and spinning. It does not always mean that the motor has failed, but it does indicate that the electronics have detected an abnormal reading.

What the F59 code means on a Balay washing machine
The exact interpretation may vary by series and model, so the instruction manual remains the main reference. In general terms, F59 appears when the machine does not correctly receive information from a movement, speed or position sensor. The program may stop, the drum may fail to turn or the spin cycle may be blocked as a safety measure.
An uneven load, a temporary overload or a mechanical obstruction can cause an incorrect reading. There may also be a problem with the wiring, the sensor itself or the electronic control board. For that reason, clearing the warning is not a repair: if it returns after restarting the machine, it should be treated as a persistent fault rather than a temporary message.
Safe checks before calling a technician
Turn the washing machine off using the control and unplug it for about five minutes. While it is disconnected, check that the door closes without resistance, that no clothing is trapped in the seal and that the drum turns smoothly when moved by hand, without forcing it. If water remains inside, do not tilt the appliance or open the filter without placing towels and a container beneath the drain area.
After restarting, remove some of the clothes and spread the rest evenly. Heavy items, such as towels or blankets, can concentrate the weight in one area and affect the system reading. Select a short program and check whether the drum starts normally. Do not remove the casing or handle electrical connections: internal parts may retain voltage and an incorrect intervention can damage the control board.
When professional inspection is needed
If F59 returns with an empty drum, during several programs or alongside banging, a hot-component smell, sparks or metallic noises, stop using the machine. These symptoms make a fault in the sensor, wiring, motor or electronic module more likely, and diagnosing those parts requires measurements and access to the inside of the appliance.
The technician should identify the complete model, check the error history and inspect sensors, connectors and motor control before replacing components. Providing the code, explaining when it appears and noting whether water or wet clothes remain can shorten the diagnosis. Replacing a part based only on the display message is not recommended, because the same code may have different details depending on the machine’s electronic platform.
An electronic warning that deserves a calm reading
The F59 warning is not usually solved by cleaning the drain filter, since it mainly concerns movement detection rather than water evacuation. Even so, checking the load, performing a controlled restart and observing the drum are reasonable, risk-free checks when carried out with the appliance unplugged.
The important distinction is between a one-off imbalance and a recurring fault. A restart that works once does not prove the problem has disappeared; if the code returns, professional inspection can prevent a faulty sensor or unstable connection from affecting other parts of the Balay washing machine.
