E1 35 error on a Balay cooktop: causes and safe solutions
Find out what this warning may indicate, how to reset the cooktop and when a professional diagnosis is needed.

The E1 35 warning on a Balay induction cooktop is usually linked to an electronic, temperature or communication irregularity. There is no universal interpretation that applies to every model: the exact meaning depends on the cooktop reference and the combination of characters shown on the display. A power reset may clear a temporary fault, but if the code returns, it should be treated as a technical issue.
If you have a problem with your induction cooktop, you can use our free error code finder. From there, you can identify and solve all errors easily and effectively.
What the E1 35 warning means on a Balay cooktop
On Balay cooktops, codes combining a letter and numbers may indicate that the electronics have detected a condition outside their normal parameters. The warning can appear after a power cut, a voltage surge, excessive heat or a problem with the power module, the component responsible for managing energy in the cooking zones.
There may also be a communication fault between the control panel and one of the internal modules. For that reason, it is not advisable to attribute E1 35 exclusively to a particular sensor or dismantle the appliance to replace components without taking measurements. The complete reference, usually found in the documentation or on an appliance label, is essential for checking the correct meaning in the manual.
Electrical reset and checks without dismantling
Switch off the cooktop using the touch control and cut its power at the electrical panel for several minutes. Then restore the circuit and test one zone with a suitable, dry, centered induction pan. This procedure can rule out a temporary system lock, although it does not repair a permanent electronic fault.
Before testing again, clean and completely dry the glass, remove any object from the control panel and check that the child lock has not been activated. If the error appears while several zones are operating at maximum power, the installation may be reaching its limit or have an unsuitable power setting. Do not handle wires, terminals or fuses: a cooktop may carry dangerous voltage even when it appears to be switched off.
When the code points to an internal fault
If the message remains after the reset, the cooktop disconnects immediately or one or more zones produce no heat, the problem needs a diagnosis. Possible causes include a faulty sensor, a fan that is not cooling, a damaged power module or a deteriorated power supply component. The same code can have different causes depending on the model.
A technician should check voltages, continuity, sensors and communication between boards before deciding whether replacing one component is enough or the complete module must be changed. In power electronics repairs, a visual inspection is not always sufficient: a degraded capacitor or failed diode may show no external signs. Do not use the cooktop if it smells burnt, makes clicking sounds or trips the circuit breaker.
The exact model makes the difference
The E1 35 combination should not be confused with other Balay warnings, because codes are not identical across every generation and product family. Write down the full reference, when the error appears and whether it affects the entire surface or only one zone. This information shortens the diagnosis and helps prevent the purchase of incompatible parts.
A reset can return the cooktop to normal when the cause was a temporary disturbance, but a recurring code is a warning that deserves attention. Electrical safety and the cost of an unnecessary replacement depend on distinguishing a passing lock from a genuine system fault. In this situation, checking the model documentation and stopping use when abnormal symptoms appear is the most sensible decision.
