That intense smell, often described as rotten eggs or sulphur, is the clearest sign that something is wrong. The most dangerous failures often come from inconspicuous components. Hoses, regulators, clamps and burners operate close to heat and wear, which is why they age sooner than it may seem. A hose can lose its elasticity, a regulator can stop controlling the flow properly or a blocked burner can alter the air-and-gas mixture.
The problem is that these parts rarely give dramatic warning signs. They often look fine at first glance, but may already be past their service life or have cracks that cannot be seen from a distance.
