Code 11 on a Xiaomi scooter identifies an anomaly in the motor power phase A. The system may display it as 11 or 1-1, accompanied by beeps, a red wrench icon or complete loss of acceleration. It is not related to remaining battery charge or tire pressure: it points to the circuit that powers the motor.

What code 11 means on a Xiaomi

A Xiaomi scooter motor works through three electrical phases that receive current in coordination from the controller. When one of them does not provide the expected reading, the electronics stop or limit operation to prevent damage. In this case, code 11 identifies phase A; codes 12 and 13 correspond to phases B and C.

The fault does not necessarily mean that the motor is burned out. A damaged phase wire, a loose connector, an overheated terminal or the controller itself can trigger exactly the same warning. In some cases, the fault appears after riding in rain, hitting a curb hard, carrying the folded scooter or installing an incompatible part.

The Xiaomi M365, Essential, 1S, Pro, Pro 2 and Mi Electric Scooter 3 models share a very similar architecture, although firmware and controller differences may exist. Therefore, the code guides the diagnosis but cannot identify one specific part without checking the electrical system and the motor behavior.

Common causes and safe checks

Before taking anything apart, switch off the scooter, unplug the charger and leave it in a dry place. If the error appeared after water or cleaning, do not try to start it repeatedly: moisture in connectors can encourage corrosion or a short circuit. It is also useful to check whether the drive wheel turns freely or offers unusual resistance, always with the scooter switched off.

A visual inspection may reveal melted insulation, pinched wires or displaced connectors near the motor and controller. Do not pull the conductors or bridge connections to clear the warning. Testing the phases requires a multimeter and knowledge of continuity, resistance and possible short circuits; an incorrect test can damage the controller MOSFETs.

If the code appears during acceleration, after an impact or when the motor tries to start, the wiring or motor become more likely suspects. If it appears immediately at startup, even with the wheel unloaded, the controller should also be checked. Replacing parts at random usually increases repair costs and may create a second fault.

Motor repair and signs to stop

The solution depends on the exact point affected in the circuit. A phase wire can be replaced if it is burned or broken, while an overheated connector requires terminal repair and a check of why it reached that temperature. When the motor winding has a short circuit, replacing the motor is usually more sensible than attempting a makeshift repair.

The controller may also have been damaged, especially after a short circuit or riding with a damaged motor wire. In that situation, installing a new unit without checking the motor can cause the replacement to fail again. Diagnosis must cover the motor, wiring and controller, not only the component that is easiest to replace.

Do not use the scooter while error 11 remains, if it loses power, becomes hot or produces a burned plastic smell. Professional assistance is particularly advisable when there are signs of water, when the code returns after clearing the fault or when the wheel locks. An orderly diagnosis prevents confusing a localized electrical fault with a motor that has reached the end of its service life.

A short code that requires an accurate diagnosis

Warning 11 may look simple, but it acts as a system protection signal, not an automatic repair bill. It identifies an abnormal phase and helps narrow down the problem, although the final cause may be a wire, connector, motor or control board. Safety must come before riding on while the scooter loses power or emits beeps.

Recording when the code appears, whether there was moisture, impact or recent modification provides valuable information for locating the fault.
