The red light may point to a water inlet, drainage or safety issue. These checks help identify the cause.

A red light on the Balay V4527 dishwasher does not identify one specific fault by itself: its meaning depends on the indicator, related symbol and appliance behavior. If the machine does not fill, leaves water in the tub or keeps the pump running, the warning may involve different circuits.

Before removing any part, note any display code, check whether water remains at the bottom and confirm that the inlet tap is open. On these models, the warning is often linked to water supply, drainage or leak protection, although an electronic interruption can also turn on the indicator.

If you have a problem with your dishwasher, you can use our free error code finder. From there, you can identify and solve all errors easily and effectively.

What the Balay V4527 red light indicates

When the red light appears next to the tap symbol, the appliance is usually warning that not enough water is entering or that it cannot correctly measure the flow. The hose may be bent behind the cabinet, the tap may be partly closed or the small inlet filter may be blocked by limescale and debris.

Carry out the external check with the dishwasher switched off. Make sure the tap supplies water normally and that the hose forms a smooth curve without being crushed. If the indicator remains on, there may also be a fault in the inlet valve, flow meter or AquaStop system, components that require professional diagnosis.

If the light appears together with water under the appliance or the pump does not stop running, the priority changes: the overflow protection system may have activated. Close the tap, unplug the appliance and do not repeatedly restart it, since the system is designed to block water entry when a leak may be present.

Checks based on the symptom

When water remains in the tub, the most common cause is a problem along the drainage path. Remove and wash the lower filters, check that the pump cover is properly fitted and inspect the drain hose. A bent hose, blocked sink trap or pieces of glass and food can trigger E24 or E25, linked to poor drainage or a blocked pump.

Code E22 also requires cleaning the filters and sump, but if it returns afterward there may be a problem with internal circulation. E23, by contrast, usually points to a drain pump fault. Do not insert metal tools or force the impeller: a broken part can turn a simple blockage into a more expensive repair.

Codes E14, E16 and E18 are linked to water intake, while E15 usually indicates water in the lower safety tray. E09 and E12 point to heating, so the dishwasher may complete the cycle with cold or poorly dried dishes. These internal problems cannot be solved by cleaning the filter and should be checked with proper electrical measurements and parts.

Safe reset and when to request assistance

A reset can clear a temporary lockout, but it will not repair a leak or damaged pump. With the appliance switched on, hold the start button for about three seconds to cancel the program; then wait for the drain cycle to finish. If the red light returns immediately, the reset has not removed the cause.

You can also disconnect the power for 15 to 20 minutes, provided there is no water in the base and no burning smell. If the indicator returns, the same code repeats or the appliance cannot fill and drain, stop using it. The work should be handled by a technician, especially if the appliance is still under warranty or includes AquaStop.

The manual identifies the model through the E-Nr number, usually located inside the door frame. That detail, the displayed code and the exact description of the red light help narrow the diagnosis. A warning indicator is only the first clue: following it carefully avoids unnecessary part replacements and reduces the risk of water or electrical damage.
