Balay washing machine: what End means and what to do

The message End on a Balay washing machine normally means that the program has finished and that the appliance has completed the wash, rinse and spin stages. It is not, by itself, an error code: the drum should stop and the door should unlock after a short time, provided there is no water left inside.

The interpretation varies by model. On some Balay washer-dryers, End may appear alongside notices such as HI or LO to indicate an unsuitable drying load. It may also remain visible until the selector is turned to the off position or the door is opened.

What End means on a Balay washing machine

On models with a display, End means the end of the program. The message may remain for a few minutes after the spin cycle as confirmation that the cycle has finished. At that point, it is normal to hear the lock click, see the start light stop flashing and find the clothes damp but already spun.

The door does not always open immediately. The electrical lock needs to release once the drum has stopped completely and the water level is safe. Do not force the door or pull the handle; if it remains locked, wait a few minutes and check whether water is still visible inside the drum.

When End appears with other notices

Some Balay machines show messages such as HI End or LO End, particularly appliances with a drying function. HI End is usually linked to an excessive load, while LO End may indicate that there is too little laundry for the drying system to work correctly. A load that is too full prevents air circulation and can leave clothes damp, while a very small load makes it harder for the sensors to calculate the process. What to do if the message does not disappear

When the washing machine is working normally, End will disappear after another program is selected or the appliance is switched off. A simple reset involves turning the selector to off, waiting a few minutes and switching it on again. On some models, the message remains until the selector is moved, so it should not automatically be interpreted as an electronic fault.

The situation is different if the door remains locked, water is left inside, the drum does not turn or another code such as E18, F18, E17 or E61 appears afterward. In those cases, End does not explain the main problem. Standing water usually points to the filter, hose or drain pump, while motor and electronic codes require more specialized inspection.

Disconnect the appliance if you notice a burning smell, smoke, sparks or a major leak. For technical support, note the complete code and the E-Nr. model number, usually found on the inner door frame. This information links the message to the specific appliance version and prevents instructions for another generation from being applied.

A final message that should not be mistaken for a fault

In most cases, End simply marks the normal end of the cycle. The key is to observe the machine: if it has drained, spun and allows the door to open, the message is informational. The display is not announcing that a repair is required.

The appliance manual remains the most reliable reference, especially for washer-dryers with combined messages.
