On AEG induction hobs, a steady F and a flashing F1 do not mean exactly the same thing, although both warnings point towards the same general idea: the zone is not correctly reading the cooking conditions. The electronics need a consistent response from the cookware and, when that response does not arrive, they stop activation to avoid operating without a proper load.

The difference between a constant and a flashing symbol helps narrow down the diagnosis. A continuous F after a recent installation usually indicates that the connection has not been made correctly or that a phase is missing. By contrast, a flashing F is usually related to cookware that is unsuitable, too small, or resting on a damp surface. This distinction helps prevent a household issue from being confused with an installation fault.

The logic behind induction is very precise. It does not heat through direct contact, but by means of a magnetic field that requires compatible, stable bases. The surrounding environment also has more of an effect than it may seem. Nearby vibrations, a blender on the countertop, or even a mobile phone placed next to the appliance can interfere with the SenseBoil function and other cooking assistance features. It is not the kind of detail one would initially associate with a hob, but induction works with enough sensitivity to notice that kind of interference nearby.

When the message appears from the very first day, the situation should be interpreted quite differently. A steady F after installation should not be treated as a mere pan incompatibility, because it may indicate an incomplete connection or faulty installation. The reason is simple: the hob may be receiving an incorrect or incomplete power supply. Using only one phase, connecting a cable incorrectly, or having an irregular electrical input is enough to prevent the electronics from starting normally. It is also worth remembering that a recent installation cannot be fixed by randomly trying different pans. This assistance depends on a precise reading of the cookware, its size, and how the temperature changes. That is why not all cookware behaves in the same way. The system works much more easily when the pan has a stable base, the correct diameter, and a composition that responds cleanly to the magnetic field. Enamelled steel pots generally provide better results, while other options may produce irregular or delayed responses.

The total weight also comes into play. In some cases, it is recommended not to exceed 5 kg including the water and potatoes when using assisted boiling. This limit is not arbitrary: it is intended to keep the zone’s behavior within a range that the electronics can interpret without uncertainty.
