Lavavajillas Balay con el código E14 visible y revisión de la entrada de agua

The E14 code on a Balay dishwasher indicates an abnormality in the water protection and control system. The appliance stops the program to prevent incorrect filling, a leak or damage to its components. Do not keep trying to start cycles until the water supply has been checked.

If you have a problem with your dishwasher, you can use our free error code search tool. From there you can identify and solve all errors easily and effectively.

What the E14 code means on a Balay dishwasher

On Balay models, this warning is usually linked to the water inlet circuit and to the information received by the flow meter, the component that measures how much water enters. If the signal does not match the expected value, the electronics interpret this as a problem and block operation as a precaution.

The cause may be simple, such as a partially closed tap, a hose bent behind the cabinet or the small inlet filter covered with limescale and particles. There may also be a fault in the inlet valve, flow sensor or an internal connection. Excess foam, caused by using hand-washing detergent, can also disrupt the circuit and encourage overflow.

Safe checks before resetting the appliance

Before touching any connections, close the inlet tap and unplug the dishwasher. Check that the hose is not crushed or twisted and that the tap provides normal water flow. There is usually a mesh filter where the hose meets the tap; it can be carefully removed and cleaned under running water if the model manual allows it.

This check should not be confused with dismantling the appliance. The tub filter and spray arms belong to the washing circuit, while E14 usually points to the inlet. Even so, keeping them clean prevents additional problems. Do not use conventional detergent or products that create foam inside the dishwasher.

If you notice water beneath the appliance, moisture around the plinth or a pump that keeps running, do not tilt the dishwasher or start it again. These signs may indicate that the AquaStop anti-leak system has activated and that the source of the leak must be found before testing the appliance.

How to reset a Balay dishwasher showing E14

With the tap closed and the basic checks complete, wait a few minutes before reconnecting the appliance. On many models, holding the start button for about three seconds cancels the active program; the dishwasher may then perform a short drain. The exact operation varies by series, so the manual takes priority.

If the warning disappears after the reset, open the water supply and select a short cycle without dishes to check the inlet and drain. Watch for unusual noises, water in the base or a new panel warning. A reset only clears a temporary lock; it does not repair a sensor, valve or leak that triggers the code again.

When professional repair is needed

Technical service is needed when E14 returns, the dishwasher receives no water even though the tap works or the code appears immediately after switching on. Diagnosis may require testing the inlet valve, checking the flow meter and inspecting the electronic module, tasks that involve areas containing water and electrical voltage.

Make the visit easier by recording the full model number from the rating plate and describing when the error appears: at startup, during filling or after a leak. Avoid buying parts based only on their appearance, because Balay uses different components across generations. Incorrect replacement of a valve or sensor can cause new faults and increase repair costs.

Maintenance that helps prevent new warnings

Monthly filter cleaning, using only dishwasher detergent and regularly checking the hose help maintain stable water flow. It is also advisable to remove food residue without rinsing with hand soap and to keep the rear area clear so the connection is not forced.

E14 does not identify one specific part by itself: it is a signal that the water control system has detected an out-of-range condition. That distinction matters. Checking external elements first and shutting off the supply protects the appliance, while repeated cycles or dismantling the base can turn a manageable incident into a larger failure.
