Balay dryer error codes: meanings and what to do
Identify your Balay dryer warnings, clean the key parts and distinguish a simple issue from an internal fault.

A Balay dryer may stop, display a code or flash its indicator lights to signal a filter, condensation, heating or electronics problem. The warning does not always identify one specific part: its meaning depends on the series, production year and model number.
If you have a problem with your dryer, you can use our free error code finder. From there you can identify and solve all errors easily and effectively.
The code varies by Balay series
Older condenser dryers, including some 3SC and 3SB references, may use different signals from newer appliances with digital displays. On certain models, E01 points to a blocked heat exchanger, E02 to the lint filter and E03 to the condensation tank or drainage circuit.
Other common warnings in those ranges include E06, linked to the heating circuit, and E08, E09, E24, E25 or E28/90, which generally point to sensors or electronic faults. It is not advisable to apply that table automatically to the entire Balay range: the E-Nr number on the label inside the door is needed to check the correct meaning for each appliance.
Filters, tank and condenser: the first checks
Lint buildup is both the simplest and one of the most frequent causes. Remove the filter after every cycle, clear away the residue and wash it with hot water when it has a layer of softener. It must be completely dry before being refitted, because a damp or clogged filter restricts airflow and increases drying time.
Empty the water container while holding it horizontally and check that the drain hose is not kinked if the dryer uses a permanent drain connection. When the tank shows full although it is empty, lint may have reached the pump or float. The condenser and air intake must also remain clear, although heat-pump models require greater care and do not always allow the heat exchanger to be removed without tools.
When it does not heat or clothes remain damp
An overloaded drum, tightly packed garments or an unsuitable programme can leave clothes damp without an actual fault. Moisture sensors inside the drum lose accuracy when covered with limescale or softener residue. Clean them with a soft, slightly damp cloth and avoid abrasive products; dirt can make the cycle finish too early.
If airflow is normal and the appliance remains cold, the problem may involve the heater, thermostat, NTC sensor or, in a heat-pump dryer, the compressor and refrigeration circuit. E06 is associated with heating in certain series, but it does not by itself confirm which component has failed. A burning smell, hot plug or tripped circuit breaker means you should disconnect the appliance and not test it again.
Lock, door and safe reset
If a key, CL or unresponsive buttons appear, the child lock is probably active. Depending on the control panel, it is disabled by holding the Start/Pause key or the key-marked button for about three to five seconds. Some heat-pump models use two combined keys, so the appliance manual takes priority.
Before interpreting a code, switch off the dryer, unplug it for a few minutes and check that the door closes without clothing caught in it. A reset only clears a temporary state; it does not repair a blocked pump, broken belt or faulty electronic module. Internal diagnostic procedures vary, so avoid selector combinations found for another model.
The signal that marks the limit of cleaning
If the same warning returns after cleaning the filters, tank, condenser and sensors, the issue is probably inside a component. A completely blank display may involve the power supply or control board; a motor that hums without turning the drum points toward the belt or drive system, while constant knocking may come from rollers or supports.
Repair decisions should consider the appliance age, dryer type and affected part. A belt, door lock or pump is usually a defined intervention; a compressor or electronic module can significantly increase the cost. The code narrows the diagnosis but does not replace technical testing, particularly where mains voltage, intense heat or sealed components are involved.
