What the letter F means on a Balay hob

When an isolated F appears or the indicator flashes, the simplest explanation is often cookware detection. Induction requires a ferromagnetic base to create heat; an aluminium, glass or non-magnetic steel pan may prevent the zone from starting and trigger a warning. Size also matters: the cookware should sufficiently cover the marked area and remain centred on it. A compatible, correctly positioned base is the first check.

The test is simple. Remove the cookware, clean and dry the glass, then place another induction-compatible utensil on the zone.
