Error 9 on the Balay 3EB965LR induction hob usually indicates an internal electronic issue, rather than a problem with the pot or pan. In some cases, it disappears after disconnecting the power and restarting the appliance; if it returns, the hob should be checked by a technician before continued use.

The 3EB965LR is a 60-centimeter hob with three cooking zones, touch controls, Sprint function and an approximate maximum output of 7,400 watts. Because it includes power modules, sensors and protection systems, a code such as 9 should be interpreted carefully and according to the manual for the specific appliance.

What error 9 means on the Balay 3EB965LR

On Balay induction hobs, code 9 is commonly associated with an electronic power system or communication fault. The system detects that a component is not responding within the expected parameters and blocks heating to prevent further damage. The display may show the warning continuously or after a cooking zone is switched on.

The cause may be a temporary issue after a voltage spike or drop, overheating or a persistent problem with the electronic board. It should not be confused with warnings caused by an unsuitable pan, which normally make the power level flash without necessarily displaying this code.

The electrical reset that may clear the warning

Turn the hob off using the touch controls and remove any cookware from the surface. Then disconnect its circuit at the electrical panel, or unplug the appliance if the installation allows this safely. Keep the power disconnected for at least 30 seconds and preferably several minutes so the components can discharge residual energy.

Reconnect the hob and test one cooking zone with induction-compatible cookware placed in the center. If the error does not return, it may have been caused by a temporary electrical disturbance. Even so, monitor the appliance during the next uses: a warning that returns when selecting a zone or activating Sprint is not normal.

Do not remove the glass surface or handle internal cables, terminals or modules. This hob operates at up to 7.4 kW and hazardous voltages, even when it appears to be off. A reset is the only reasonable household intervention; electrical repairs must be handled by qualified personnel.

When to stop using the hob and request an inspection

Technical assistance is needed if error 9 remains after the reset, appears every time the hob is switched on or affects one particular zone. Stop using it as well if the circuit breaker trips, you notice a burnt-plastic smell, the fan behaves unusually or the touch panel responds irregularly.

A technician will check the power supply, connections, lower ventilation, sensors and power board. Sometimes correcting a connection or replacing one component is enough; in other cases, the cost depends on the part and labor, so request an estimate before authorizing the work. The full product number and the E-Nr code on the rating label help identify the exact version.

An induction hob may produce soft humming, activate its fan or retain residual heat after being switched off, but error 9 should not be considered a normal operating sound. If it returns, leaving the appliance disconnected can prevent an electronic fault from affecting other components and allows for safer diagnosis.
