The 918 code on a Balay ceramic or induction hob means that the appliance has detected an abnormal condition, but its exact meaning depends on the model’s electronics. There is no universal interpretation for every appliance from the brand: it may be linked to a temporary lock, excessive heat, an incorrect sensor reading or a power supply issue.

The first response should be careful and simple: remove the cookware, dry the touch panel completely and cut the power at the electrical panel for at least one minute.
