Error 135 on a Balay induction hob: causes and solution
The code depends on the model, but a safe reset can help rule out temporary faults.

The code 135 on a Balay induction hob does not have one universal meaning across all models. Its interpretation depends on the installed electronics and how the appliance displays warnings, so you should not replace parts or dismantle the hob based only on this number. The first safe action is to switch it off, remove any cookware and cut its power before checking whether the warning disappears.
If you have a problem with your induction hob, you can use our free error code finder. From there, you can identify and solve all errors easily and effectively.
What code 135 may indicate
On Balay hobs, messages beginning with E or appearing as a combination of letters and numbers are often linked to electronic control faults, communication between modules or abnormal power conditions. Without the full model and appliance version, it would be unsafe to assign 135 to one specific part: the same number may vary between product families.
The warning may also appear after a power cut, a surge, an incorrect connection or excessive heat. Unsuitable induction cookware usually causes flashing indicators, failure to heat or detection warnings, but it should not automatically be considered the cause of code 135. The exact hob reference, usually found in the paperwork or on a label beneath the glass, is essential for checking the correct table.
How to reset the hob safely
Switch the hob off from the control panel and wait until residual heat indicators disappear. Then disconnect its circuit at the electrical panel for several minutes; removing a pan or touching the controls is not enough. Once the power is cut, do not handle cables, terminals or the underside of the appliance, as the hob may retain an electrical charge.
Reconnect the circuit and switch the hob on without cookware for a few moments. If the code does not return, it may have been a temporary electronic lockup. Then place a compatible, dry, centered pan and test one zone at moderate power. Induction requires a flat ferromagnetic base; a simple test is to check whether a magnet sticks to it. If 135 returns immediately, the reset has only cleared a temporary symptom, not the underlying cause.
When to stop using it and request an inspection
Keep the hob disconnected if the warning repeatedly appears, if several zones stop working, if the glass heats without cookware or if unusual clicking sounds occur. An odor of burning plastic or insulation, dark marks, smoke or a circuit breaker that trips whenever the hob is switched on also requires caution. A persistent code may indicate a problem with the power module or internal communication, repairs that require suitable measurements and parts.
Opening the appliance to inspect sensors or electronic boards is not recommended. Besides the electrical risk, a home intervention can damage seals, connections and ventilation systems, or complicate later repairs. The technician will need the complete code, exact model, when it appears and whether it coincides with use of a particular zone. This information speeds diagnosis and avoids unnecessary component replacement.
Cleaning can also rule out simple issues: the panel must be dry and free of cloths, utensils and food residue around the sensors. However, a spotless surface will not fix an electronic fault. The key detail is whether the error disappears after a reset and returns during cooking; when it repeats, the priority is to preserve safety and arrange a professional check according to the model manual.
